This past weekend members from DTVFD traveled south for some VDFP Regional Fire School training in South Hill, Virginia. Once they arrived they toured the town's Fire Station and met with some of locals that would be organizing the training. The program was excellent and the instructors were very knowledgeable.
While down there our members were also told of a member of their Fire Department that had under gone surgery for a brain tumor. They had also learned that this tumor was growing back even after the surgery. Saturday night they held a fish fry at the Fire Station and a "fill the boot" fundraiser was held. After class our members stopped by and made a small donation. If any of our members can give or get the word out about this; here is the fund information.

On a side note low attendance to Regional schools and "no-shows" are starting to become an issue with the state. Upcoming budget shortfalls in the state may hurt these programs in the future. Log on to the VDFP website and find a regional school you want to go to and put in for it. Get out there and train! and have a good time!
