On Sunday afternoon, Wagon 517 (OIC Luellen, DPO Reha, FF Donaldson, FF Griffin, RH Smith and RH Hewlitt) was dispatched to Vals Drive for the report of a car fire. BC507 (Captain Semones) also responded. While responding we were advised of multiple callbacks as well as reports that a brush fire had been started as a result of the car fire. Arriving on scene we found a pickup truck fully involved as well as a 15' x 15' brush fire on the hill beside the truck. As we made our initial attack with the jump line from the front of the pumper, the fire flared up due to the amount of fuel that had leaked from the gas tank and was pooled under the vehicle. This also caused a stream of burning gasoline to run under or near 3 other vehicles parked nearby. The line was repositioned to minimize the exposure hazard and the fire was brought under control in short order. The brush fire was then extinguished and both areas were saturated to ensure the fire did not rekindle.

Thanks to Capt. Semones for the photos...
