At approximately 02:35 hours on Jan 12, 2007 units were alerted to an auto accident involving a vehicle into a light pole. As Engine 503 and Medic 553 arrived at the 153.4 mile marker they advised Battalion 507 of one patient in the roadway, still breathing, and requested a helicopter. Battalion 507(Hoffman) arrived and established command. A further size up and witness statements advised that an SUV traveling at a high rate of speed lost control and veered across all lanes and struck a light pole and flipped over ejecting the patient. Crews also scanned the accident scene to verify that there were no other patients. Tower 512, originally assigned to the run, checked on the scalehouse as a possible LZ and were assisted by Tanker 503. Aircare arrived to transport the patient to a local trauma center.

Units: Engine 503, Medic 553, Amb 517, Battalion 507, Tower 512 and Tanker 503
