| Sunday August 20 proves to be another bad day in Dumfries. Like most weekends it's virtually impossible to tell who was on what call, but the run card for the day proved to be dreadful. As far as I can tell E503 ran 8 calls. The morning started out with a stoppage of breathing followed by a serious trauma. A ten-year-old girl fell approx. 40 feet slamming to the ground in front of her apartment building. Medic 553 arrived on the scene first and quickly determined the need for a medivac. E503 with Lt. Redman, FF's B. Campbell and M. Herrera assisted the medic with patient care, packaging and transport to the LZ. The condition of the patient is still unknown.
Shortly after being released from patient care, Billy Campbell notified the rest of the crew that we had just received a run for a motorcyclist down in our first due. E503 placed E510 in service and proceeded to the call. Capt. 517 arrived on the scene and confirmed a DOA and returned all units with the exception of E503. Units found both motorcycle and victim down a small culvert slammed into the side of a hill. Shortly thereafter Asst. Chief 503 and Chief 503 arrived. Units assisted Dumfries PD and PWCPD with lighting the scene for their investigation and body removal. |
