At 0143 hrs Monday morning, Engine 503 and other units were dispatched to Interstate 95 Northbound at the 156 mile marker just prior the exit ramp for Dale Blvd. for a reported vehicle into a Tractor trailer with possible entrapment. Battalion 507 (A/C J. Hoffman) arrived on scene first taking Int 95 Command with Engine 503 to follow. A 2-door sports car was lodged under the back left end of the trailer. E503, with Sgt. C. Brothers, Lt. S. Redmon, FF J. Frye, FF P. Reha, FF M. Herrera, FF D. DelSol and Recruit C. Hall Started to secure hazards and began to assess both patients, unfortunately to find both patients had succumbed to injuries. At that time Medic 553, Rescue 510 and Ambulance 503A arrived on scene. After speaking with the driver of the tractor trailer, he said that there was a third party in the car who had walked by his cab bleeding from his head and talking on his cell phone. While Medic 553 was checking the victims and Rescue 510 was planning the extrication of the victims, the officer of Engine 503, Sgt. Brothers, sent four of his crew with flashlights and a Thermal Imaging Camera (T.I.C.) to look for the third patient along the highway and wooded areas. At that time Prince William County Police had sent several units to search the Dale Blvd. exit ramps and surrounding area while Virginia State Police had requested a helicopter to help with the search of the possible third patient. After an extensive and exhausted search there was no third patient to be found at that time. Medic 553 cleared the scene. Rescue 510 began extrication of victims from the vehicle and assist the County Coroners while Ambulance 503A and Engine 503 crews helped maintain the scene. Once both victims were removed and the vehicle was carefully pulled from tractor trailer, Command was released and the remaining units went in service approximately 0500 hrs.
