| Saturday afternoon firefighters from different crews came together to hone their skills and work on new techniques. The day consisted of 3 different scenarios ranging from basic hose deployment to search and rescue tactics. The crews were divided into groups of 2 and each station had a proctor to watch over them. Props were brought in to simulate low profile areas and debris with minor entanglements.
1st Scenario: Basic hose deployment and placement consideration.
This scenario was designed for the participant to perfect their pulls and help them think about the placement of the line should there be obstacles in front and around the entryway.
2nd Scenario: Charged hose advancement.
This scenario was designed to allow the participant to practice new techniques to advance the hose while staying low through an extended hallway and to become comfortable with only a 2 man team.
3rd Scenario: Search and Rescue.
This scenario was the longest scenario and it tested the participant's rescue techniques and forced them to think through various changes that would happen throughout the training.
All of the participants did well and hopefully gained some new knowledge.
We will attempt to do another training day soon! |
