| On August 29th around 7:30 PM on Monday, Engine Companies 3 and 23 were dispatched to a house fire off Dumfries Road near Country Club Road. While responding units were updated of multiple calls coming in to PSCC, a black column could be seen from the intersection of Jeff Davis and 234. Police were first on scene and stated that there was active fire coming from the windows.
Engine 523 was the first supression unit to arrive and confirmed a working fire with fire showing from all sides. A defensive attack was made by the crew from Engine 523 while Engine 506 and Engine 503 arrived on scene and established a water supply. Once established, deck guns from E506 and E523 were placed in service. As the deck guns were getting a good knock on the fire another handline and a monitor were put to work on the Alpha / Bravo side. E523 and E503 personnel made entry into the structure with Truck 513 personnel and began hitting several deep seated fires. Chief 503 had Dumfries Road shut down and Tanker 503 set up another water supply using its 2,000 gallon supply.
The fire was knocked down with good teamwork from all units on the scene and the Fire Marshall was called to investigate the fire. DTVFD companies remained on scene to assist the FM with lighting and hot spots. Around 10:00 PM all units cleared the scene and the FM remained on scene for the duration of the night. |
