| On Wednesday morning as the shift came to an end, Engine 523 was dispatched at 0559 for an outside fire in the 16000 block of Radburn Street.
Dispatch supplements indicated that a small tree was on fire several meters from some single family dwellings. Upon arrival E523 noticed smoke billowing from an elevated area separating several homes. Further investigation identified a large fallen tree that was enflamed and had been burning for several hours.
A 300 foot 1 ¾ inch handline was put into to action to prevent fire spread to nearby properties and into the wooded location. The fire and overhaul was completed within the hour and the crew prevented any property loss.
Due to the nature and proximity of the fire there was insufficient cause to suspect the fire as suspicious. |
