At approximately 1:30 a.m. Company 523 units were dispatched to an auto accident on Interstate 95 (North) at the 155 mile marker. Initial dispatch was for a vehicle into a tractor trailer that had spun multiple times.

Engine 523 was first on the scene and provided traffic protection for Ambulance 523 and Virginia State Police. Engine 523's personnel made a quick assessment of the passengers and secured general hazards associated with the crash.

Both patients refused medical services and all other incoming units were placed in service.

The cause of the accident was unknown when E523 went ready at 1:50 a.m.
