| Sandy (operational member) and her husband Loren received surprising news on their second visit to their doctor. After finding out they were pregnant on the first visit, they soon learned that they were having triplets. Not just three babies... identical triplet girls!!! An extremely rare occurrence in triplet pregnancies. Referred to as monozygotic triplets, meaning they are identical and spontaneous (no assistance in reproduction), all have the same blood type and gender because they all shared the same placenta during pregnancy.
The triplets older siblings Daniel, 7, and Katelyn, 3, were excited to hear the news. So was the rest of their family and friends. After extensive research and interviewing they had selected Richmond's Henrico Doctors' Hospital, with OB-GYN Dr. Boyd Clary and the specialized staff in the neonatal intensive care unit.
After several weeks of being on (hospitalized) bed rest; Oct. 22, 2008, Sandy and Loren welcomed Brianna Nichole 3lbs. 14oz., Alexis Christina 3lbs. 11oz., and Sarah Elizabeth 2lbs. 3oz., into the world by Caesarean section. Sandy says, "All three girls were healthy. I was just blessed that I had three beautiful girls in my arms!"
Congratulations to Sandy and Loren, Daniel, and Katelyn from the DTVFD Family. |
