At approximately 1630 hours on Sunday afternoon, Engine 503 (D/O Hailey, OIC Lillie, FF Talley, & Recruit M. Frezza) responded for a report of a house on fire at the end of Inn St. While dropping a line for a split lay, smoke was visable above the trees. Due to a washed out driveway, Brush 503 (Capt. Gudaitis), came around Engine 503 and arrived onscene with smoke showing from Side-A of an abandoned house. Engine 503 was only able to make it about 250 feet from the house. The engine crew used an 1 3/4" line off the brush to darken the fire down from the first floor, but needed a ladder to access the second floor due to the interior stairwell being removed. Once access to the second floor was obtained, the remaining fire was knocked down and the room was overhauled by Engine and Truck 531 from Quantico MCB. Units were released shortly afterwards with E503 remaining onscene to assist the Fire Marshall. E503 cleared about 1900 hours.
