| At 2129 hours units were alerted for a townhouse on fire on Ardmore Lp. in Co 517s' area. As Wag 517 (D/O Sgt Korteum, Sgt Lillie, FF Cook, FF Talley) left quarters, heavy fire was visible from the front ramp and a second alarm was requested. Wag 517 arrived on scene and found a townhouse with heavy fire coming from the roof and second floor with the fire impinging on Exposure D1. Crews from 17 and 13 made an aggressive interior attack on the main fire building, but were withdrawn to allow Eng 510 and Trk 514 to knock down the attic fire with master streams.
Crews went to work in the exposure and found minor fire extension into the attic area that was quickly taken care of. Damage to exposure was limited to minor fire damage in the attic and water damage. After the bulk of fire was knocked down, command had crews re-enter performing salvage, overhual and knocking down hot spots. Crews remained on the scene assisting the FMO. The last unit cleared the scene at 0147 hours. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
*Two firefighters were taken to Potomac hospital suffering from minor heat related injuries. They were treated and later released. |
