| Saturday morning started cold and wet with possible snow showers as Crew 2 came on duty for the weekend. Engine 503B was quickly dispatched for a water rescue in the area of Possum Point Rd. and Quantico Creek.
E503B and Battalion Chief 507 responded to the Dominion Power facility to gain a visual on the river. Soon afterwards, Charles County, MD Boat 4 located and extracted the victim and took them to the shore. The rest of Saturday progressed with little calls.
Sunday morning came and there was training was scheduled for Crew 2. The morning began with getting all the equipment needed and briefing the crew on what was going to happen. Two smoke machines and a training house were used to simulate arriving on the scene of a single story wood frame home with smoke showing.
Firefighters and recruits from Crew 2 practiced advancing charged hose lines, search and rescue, laddering a structure, and quick egress.
Half way through the 4th evolution E503B was dispatched for an OB call. Soon after arrival crews delivered a healthy baby boy.
After the remainder of training and some minor auto accidents and sickness calls, the excitement of Crew 2's busy weekend came to an end. |
