On Friday, June 18, 2010 Command 503 (CP503) traveled to Fairfax, VA for the annual Fairfax County Command Control & Communications Vehicle Rally. After a long day conducting interoperability demonstrations Command 503 began the trip back to Prince William County. At approximately 4:30 PM CP503 was dispatched to an outside commercial gas leak at the intersection of Sudley Manor Drive and Sudley Road. CP503 remained on the scene until 10:45 PM while crews evacuated the area, roads were redirected, and utility personnel secured the leak.

At 6:00 AM on Saturday, CP503 under the direction of Captain 503 deployed to Essex County to support the Tappahannock Fire and Emergency Medical Services, Sheriff, and Police. Command 503, Attack 503, and Gator 503 traveled south to lend mutual aid to the annual Rivahfest event which drew record crowds of nearly 20,000 visitors adding to the population of 9,000 residents.

Upon arrival CP503 set-up as the main Incident Command Post and X503 and G503 responded to numerous medical assist calls including a nearby cardiac arrest. As temperatures and humidity hit over 100 degrees; command personnel transferred the main 911 dispatch center over to CP503.

Around 7:30 PM crowds began to disperse and cooler weather began to approach. CP503 and support crews terminated command and all emergencies were turned back over to the local 911 center.

Afterwards Captain Beazley of the TEVFD provided homemade Bar-B-Que to DTVFD personnel and gave a tour of their station and apparatus. A great time was had by all and we look forward to assisting in next year's event.
