The evening began slowly with periodic calls for vehicle spin-outs on different highways all over the county. Around 1945, T-503 was on an inside gas leak when W503 was punched out for an auto accident on I-95 N near the Stafford County line. Once cleared, they were placed on another Southbound, followed by another Northbound. After clearing the last call after midnight; everyone went to the day room for some much needed rest and rehab. At 0145, W503 was placed on a vehicle fire off of Graham Park Drive.
Upon arrival the crew consisting of OIC Griffin, D/O Bauer, FF Ruhala, FF Santiago, and RH Reid; made a quick attack on the interior of a full size pick-up. The fire was extinguished as PD arrived on scene. Since the owner had not operated the vehicle in several days and based on other circumstances, Dumfries Police requested FM514. After collection of evidence W503 returned to the station only to run four more accidents and two medical assists. W503 returned to quarters just in time to turn the shift over to the on-coming 0600 crew. Some of the firefighters never had a chance to even make-up their bunks before cleaning up for the workday that lie ahead.
