| At 0500 units were alerted to a possible house fire at 17415 Mine Rd. Shortly after the initial dispatch Battalion 507 (Nanna) requested that Quantico's Truck 31 be added and that a tanker also be added due to the poor hydrant system in the dispatched area. Wagon 503 was first to arrive at 0507, after laying 300' of supply line in from the hydrant, Wagon 503 reported smoke showing from the roof line on all sides. Residents outside reported fire in the attic and that everyone had evacuated. As Wagon 503's crew was preparing to enter the house, fire began to show through the roof. Wagon 503 advanced a 1 3/4" handline through side c of the house and began an aggressive interior attack on the fire that was still confined to the attic space. The fire was knocked down as units pulled ceiling to open the attic area. Overhaul of the house was delayed due to structural instability which forced units to complete overhaul from the outside of the structure. The last unit cleared the scene at 0746. |
