In the early hours of Sunday morning tones dropped alerting Companies 17, 13 and 10 along with Battalion 507 to the house fire near Cardinal and Eastlawn. Upon Engine 17's arrival they advised heavy fire showing and started the defensive attack as the house was boarded up. When 13 arrived the Engine crew pulled a second line and the Tower started to open up the windows and doors. Fire was knocked down quickly and Battalion 507 arrived and established Cardinal Command and requested the Duty Fire Marshal. Engine 10 also assisted with extinguishment and a search was completed to make sure there were no vagrants in the house. Fire Marshal arrived and completed his investigation. It was at this time that an additional vacant property was inspected and evidence of previous fires was located.
Last units cleared the scene at approximately 5:30 am.
