Christmas Eve fire displaces family in Dale City

At approx. 2:30 a.m. Wagon 517 was dispatched to 13822 Del Mar Drive for a House Fire with reported fire showing from the side of the house. While en route Prince William Communications advised wrong location and re-dispatched the call as 13822 Delaney Road. With Dale City units being committed to Del Mar Dr. Wagon 517 was the first Engine to arrive on location behind Batt. 505 with fire showing from the roof on Side B. Wagon 517 with it's own hydrant stretched an 1 3/4 to the interior and along with the aggressive opening up of the attic space from Dale City units and Wagon 517 the fire was quickly extinguished. Extensive overhaul left units on the scene for awhile. No injuries were reported on the fire ground and all units worked very professionally to get the job done.

On a side note: it was reported on the fire ground that a group of teenagers saw the fire and banged on the door to awaken the occupants. I hope somebody gathers some names so these young people can be recognized.
