Triple flyout for Tanker 503

On a rare occasion the crew staffing Tanker 503 was able to help out their west end brothers with a triple fly out. The tanker was taken to a neighboring station for a rural water supply class and had an engine capable crew on board. During their lunch break the tanker crew was in a prime location to assist Engine 504 with a landing zone for 3 helicopters.

Engine 525 was on scene of an auto accident with extrication in progress when they requested helicopters for 3 ALS patients. Engine 504 designated the parking area of Jiffy Lube Live as their landing zone. With the assistance of Tanker 503 an area was cleared for all the helicopters and shut down to civilians. The landings were done safely and all patients were loaded without incident. Once all of the helicopters had taken off safely Tanker 503 was released by Engine 504.

Although the units operating the landing zone were from opposite ends of the county they were able to work together for the safety of all involved. This rare opportunity also shows how volunteers and career personnel from different stations can come together and work as a team to accomplish a goal without ever meeting one another.

A job well done by all
