| At approximately 0115, tones dropped for a reported house fire in the 4200 block of Glendale Road in Dale City. E517 (OIC Talley, D/O Griffin, & FF Hewlett) responded, arriving second in to fire on the second floor of a two level single-family home. Initial reports by police in the area confirmed that the residents had evacuated but there were two to three patients with burns on the scene. E513 and BC505 marked on scene with smoke showing from the front of the structure and a light haze in the area. E517 marked on scene shortly afterwards establishing water supply to Company 13. At the direction of BC505, E517 sought out the need for a secondary attack line and was redirected by BC505R to conduct a search of the residence. After a negative search, E517 began an additional walk around, and threw ladders to the second floor of sides Bravo and Charlie. E520's crew also threw ladders and secured the utilities, while E510 set-up for RIT operations. Tower 512 arrived on scene to assist with ventilation, extension ladders to the roof, and lighting operations. During which A513 and M520 requested a helicopter for a female patient with serious burns and requested an additional BLS unit for a male patient who also suffered burns. R419 (Fairfax) arrived around this time and was subsequently placed in service by BC505 since the fire was then under control. E518 was dispatched for the landing zone and A517B arrived to attend to the second patient. As M520 responded to the LZ, further evaluation by A517B and medical control determined they should respond to Potomac Hospital. Shortly after arrival, the second patient was reportedly going to be flown by the hospital for his burn/inhalation injuries. After the fire was knocked down and interior extension extinguished, units staged outside for the arrival of the Fire Marshall. FM514 was dispatched and responded first to the LZ for patient information and then to the fire-ground to conduct an investigation as to the cause. Units then began salvage, overhaul, and clean-up operations. E513 remained on scene for the arrival of the utility companies. The cause has not been released at the time of this report but appeared to originate in an upstairs bedroom. The remaining units cleared the scene at approximately 0245. |
