In the early morning hours, units were dispatched to a report of an auto accident on I 95 North at the 151MM. As they were responding, they were being advised of a vehicle that was overturned and possibly on fire. As units were being added to the call, Wagon 503 under the command of Lt. Lichty arrived on the scene and advised of a vehicle on its side well involved with fire. The vehicle had exited the right side of the roadway behind the guardrail and struck a VDOT electric box. Truck 503 arrived right after and assisted with the lines and began to try to access the victims. Unfortunately, both victims had already succumbed to their injuries. Lt. Lichty had 95 command and placed the balance of the assignment in service once the area was checked for any additional victims. Remaining on the scene assisting State Police were Wagon 503, Truck 503, BC 507, AC 503 and Chief 503. Units cleared around 3am and were redispatched about an hour later to assist with the extrication of the bodies after the investigation. Truck 503 and Wagon 503 handled the extrication and cleared the scene at about 4:15am.
