Plow Fire in 17's Due

By DTVFD Staff
February 6, 2010

On Saturday afternoon, units were dispatched to a house fire near Jonathan Ct. in Montclair. Reports received heavy black smoke coming from the area but callers could not see flames. Nearby residents were unaware that Company 17 units were already trying to make their way to a plow-truck fire on Cogenbury Ct. near Paige Point Way.

As Battalion Chief 507 and Engine 503 approached the scene and communicated with Engine 517 it was realized that the two calls were one in the same.

With heavy snowfall over the past twenty four hours, access was limited to Cliffview Drive. Personnel had to carry hose-packs by hand as 4WD suppression units responded with a utility plow of their own.

Company 17's personnel put out what they could after attaching lines to nearby hydrants.
